Standard Protocols

Edin’s expert team took the lead in developing standard operational protocols for Auckland Transport, aiming to establish a uniform and effective strategy across the entire Auckland Network.

Our role encompassed a thorough review of existing best practices pertaining to various operational criteria, subsequently compiling them into a concise, standard format for quick and easy reference. The development and review process of these protocols necessitated a careful balance between safety and efficiency, necessitating a thorough application of principles from both the Network Operating Plan and Vision Zero. The protocols we developed include, but are not limited to: filtered right turns, traffic signal cycle times, cyclist protection, LED road studs, signal detection, and Special Vehicle Lane types.

This project has significantly contributed to the enhancement of operational consistency and efficiency across Auckland’s transport network. By standardising protocols, we’ve helped create a safer, more reliable transport environment for all road users. Edin's role in this project underscores our commitment to integrating safety and efficiency in transport operations, showcasing our ability to balance these crucial elements in urban planning.
